About Us

The String Band Division is the musical highlight of the Mummers Parade. The String Bands are known for their happy music and elaborate costuming. The first String Band participated in the 1901 parade as a novelty. This continued to grow and in 1915 their own division was formed.

The Philadelphia String Band Association is excited to invite you to our biggest summer celebration yet! Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 14, 2025, as we return to the beautiful Seaport Pier in North Wildwood, NJ, for the 5th Annual String Band Luau Palooza.

This all-day event features performances by all 14 String Bands, special guests, and appearances from beloved local celebrities and personalities. Your support helps raise vital funds to benefit the member bands of the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association – and ensures the music keeps marching
